A new month means a new window and I’ve been dreaming about this one since before we even had the shop!
My friend Jacs @doubell_ceramics makes the most incredible ceramic sculptures of birds (she’s hosting a Robin sculpting workshop with us in Nov) and I thought it’d be amazing to create a field for her crows to soar over. A bit like the fields that surround us here in the South Downs.
September is normally time to celebrate harvest festival so it felt like the perfect month to create a reflection of the season and to capture the shift from summer into autumn.
Wheat & barley gathered from local fields (with permission from the farmer I should add) dotted with wild grasses, poppy heads, ox eye daisies and achillea all from the scorched scrubland that’s currently my garden.
I’ve had the image of this in my head for some time now and the window is pretty close to what I’d imagined, so I’m pretty happy.
Throughout September you’ll find several black crows and a pair of black Harrier Boots flying above the field in the window
