Join us for a weekend shoemaking workshop and make a pair of our signature Jackdaw Boots.

Over 2 days our shoemaker Tom will give you an introduction to the craft of shoemaking and guide you through the basics of how to make a shoe.

This workshop will focus on the lasting phase which is where the leather gets pulled and fixed around the last to form the shoe. You’ll learn to hand last a pre-prepared upper, rough & fill the bottom, attach the sole, sock & finish your pair.

In this workshop you'll make our classic black leather boot, but if you’d prefer something a little more striking, such as metallic, snake or leopard print for example, you can always add one of our extra special leathers - click here to see the options.

Jackdaw Boot is available to make in sizes 37-41 eur and will be the same fit as our standard collection. You can also choose between a leather sole, or the EVA winter sole.

When you book your workshop please leave a comment at checkout with the colour and size of boot that you'd like to make, and your preferred sole. Please note that as the uppers will be made before you arrive at the workshop we cannot change the size or colour that you request to make.

Workshops will be held in the upstairs space at our shop in Alfriston, East Sussex and limited to just 2 people. The small group size means that you'll benefit from lots of individual guidance and tuition. All materials and equipment will be provided.

This workshop aims to give you a simple introduction to shoemaking and whilst there’s no previous shoemaking experience required you will be using a variety of hand tools which does require a degree of strength in your hands and wrists.

Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th March 2027 from 10 - 5pm.

We'll keep you well nourished with tea & coffee along with a delicious flapjack from our neighbours at Badgers Tea House in Alfriston but please bring your own lunch or head to one of the neighbouring cafes.

** Please note that bookings will close on Sunday 28th February 2027 to allow us time to make the uppers for each participant **

Some workshops require more space or more individual tuition so are held in even smaller, more personal groups.
