Join us for a weekend shoemaking workshop and make a pair of our signature Wren Boots.

Over 2 days our shoemaker Tom will give you an introduction to the craft of shoemaking and guide you through the basics of how to make a shoe.

This workshop will focus on the lasting phase which is where the leather gets pulled and fixed around the last to form the shoe. You’ll learn to hand last a pre-prepared upper, rough & fill the bottom, attach the sole, sock & finish your pair.

We offer the option to make a classic black or chestnut leather boot, but if you’d prefer something a little more flamboyant you can always add one of our extra special leathers - click here to see the options.

Wren Boot is available to make in sizes 37-41 eur and will be the same fit as our standard collection. You can also choose between a leather sole, or the EVA winter sole.

When you book your workshop please leave a comment at checkout with the colour and size of boot that you'd like to make, you can choose your preferred sole on the day. Please note that as the uppers will be made before you arrive at the workshop we cannot change the size or colour that you request to make.

Workshops will be held in the upstairs space at our shop in Alfriston, East Sussex and limited to a maximum of 6 people. The small group size means that you'll benefit from lots of individual guidance and tuition. All materials and equipment will be provided.

This workshop aims to give you a simple introduction to shoemaking and whilst there’s no previous shoemaking experience required it’s worth noting that it will involve using a variety of hand tools and does require a degree of strength in your hands and wrists.

Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th October from 11 - 5pm.

Tea, coffee & drinks are provided but please bring your own lunch or head to one of the neighbouring cafes in Alfriston.

Materials

All CHAPTER 2 styles are made using soft, natural leathers which will develop their own unique character the more you wear them.

Sustainability

The upper leathers used on CHAPTER 2 boots are sourced from tanneries that have achieved either a Gold or Silver rating as part of the Leather Working Group.

LWG is the cornerstone in standards for the production of responsibly made leather. Their aim is to encourage a more responsible and transparent leather supply chain as a pathway to creating and using sustainable materials.

Craftsmanship

CHAPTER 2 shoes are made using traditional shoemaking techniques and plenty of hand processes including the hand built leather sole with painted brush stroke detail in the waist.

Blake stitch construction.

Designed on the South Coast of England, crafted by artisan shoemakers in Italy.

Made to Order styles are individually handcrafted specially for you in our workshop in East Sussex, UK by our master shoemaker Tom and feature a beautiful leather sole with sunflower design by British print maker Rosanna Morris.
